Compensation for 1950s Womens Pension

WASPI (Women Against State Pension Inequality) campaign

23/13/25

For years, women born in the 1950s have been denied the pension compensation they are owed. Now, after huge public pressure and a legal challenge, the Government is finally reviewing its decision.

There’s talk of possible payouts in 2026, but the Government has made it clear: nothing is guaranteedThe review could drag on, and justice could be delayed again.

Public pressure forced the Government to consider compensation – but if we take our foot off the gas now it could all be for nothing. Should Organise keep campaigning together on this until compensation is actually paid?

The government is hoping we’ll move on. But if enough of us commit now, we can show them we’re not backing down – and we’ll keep pushing until 1950s women have received every penny they’re due.

Will you help decide if we continue the fight in 2026?

Should we demand pension justice in 2026?

The results are clear: 11,636 of us voted to keep pushing the government until pension compensation is paid. There’s a real risk that Ministers will try to conduct the review of pension compensation owed to 1950s women in secret – together, we can’t let that happen.

The first step is for thousands of us to email the Pensions Minister, Pat McFadden, to demand public input (that’s us!) into the official review.

Will you send a quick email now? There’s a template to help you, so it only takes a minute:

The government has just agreed to review its decision to deny pension compensation owed to 1950s women. But a “review” doesn’t guarantee change. Too often it means kicking the issue into the long grass. And the truth is, they wouldn’t even be reopening this decision without the pressure we’ve created together.

So this is the moment to show them we’re paying attention. Ministers need to see that thousands of us expect a review that’s transparent, accountable, and leads to justice.

If we act now, we can make sure this isn’t just another box-ticking exercise. Will you join thousands of us in emailing Pensions Minister Pat McFadden calling for public input into the official pensions review? There’s a template email in case you find that helpful:
