Equal Pay Claim 2025:
An Equal pay claim for a pay difference between a male and female who were doing the same work. Was raised on what actually constitutes an equal pay claim, which our representative progressed from all the information and correspondence with our union member.
The union member was successful in getting a better deal as a result of obtaining support from GMB. Something the employer could have resolved but did not.

Pay Grade Change 2024:
A department in Tameside MBC had three pay grade levels for their staff. The employees in the two lower grades, raised with management that their grades did not represent the work they were expected to do, in other words they should be higher.
Management engaged with staff and HR on the pay grade increase, which resulted in the claim being declined.
Union branch representatives were approached about the matter by union members. After it was assessed and then formally submitted by our union branch to TMBC HR. The pay grade increase by one grade was assessed and approved. In addition, this included a back pay to the submission date by the union.
During further discussions by the union representatives with HR. An additional back pay was agreed in relation to a part of the gap between the earlier declined request with management and the date the union submitted the new request.
Just a quick summary of how your union branch has helped union members.
