What is Industrial Action

Industrial action with unions isĀ when employees, organised by a trade union, take collective action, such as “work-to-rule,” or overtime bans, to pressure an employer during a work dispute. It acts as a last resort when negotiations fail, typically requiring a formal, legal ballot of union members to be considered legitimate.

It does not mean strike action is the next step.
